THE MOORING OPERATIONS - ШВАРТОВНЫЕ ОПЕРАЦИИ
My duties as an able seaman during M. O. are following :

When the ship approaches the port, the master gives the command: «Stand by for mooring».
Когда судно приближается к порту, капитан даёт команду: «Приготовиться к швартовке».
In this case / must go to the bow.
В этом случае я должен идти на нос.
Together with a boatswain and other seamen we prepare the lines.
Вместе с боцманом и другими матросами мы готовим концы.
We act according to orders from the bridge.
Мы действуем согласно указаниям с мостика.
First of all it is necessary to deliver the heaving line to the berth.
Прежде всего, необходимо подать выброску на причал.
After that we deliver the head line andforward spring.
После этого мы подаем носовой продольный конец и носовой шпринг.
Then it is necessary to haul in the slack and make all lines fast.
Затем необходимо выбрать слабину и выбрать все концы в тугую.
We do it with the help of the windlass.
Мы делаем это с помощью брашпиля.
And at last we set anti-rat shields.
И наконец мы устанавливаем противокрысиные щитки.
In other case I must go to the stern.
В другом случае я должен идти на корму.
I must prepare the lines for the delivery to the berth.
Я должен приготовить концы для подачи на причал.

With the help of the capstan we haul in the slack and make all lines fast.
С помощью шпиля мы выбираем слабину и крепим все концы в тугую.
We set anti-rat shields.
Мы устанавливаем противокрысиные щитки.
